The healing power was part of the pre and post tours of the 22nd IT&CMA and the 17th CTW Asia Pacific 2014, the Asia’s largest MICE trade show, held in Bangkok during October 1-2, 2014. Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) hosted the tours for overseas delegates attending the trade show to experience new attractions and creative CRS activities in Thailand.
The first healing power is the school of health promotion within the compound of Siriraj Hospital, the oldest hospital of Thailand which has been practicing and teaching western medicine since 19th century. Located on the majestic Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, the school or Siriraj Sappya-sthana offered a treat to overseas delegates with traditional Thai massage to sooth and heal their mind and body in a spacious room, some commanding a view of the river. The masseurs are all licensed practitioners graduated with a degree in the discipline from the hospital’s Ayurveda School, thus, assuring standard and quality treatment This is a school of health promotion where Applied Traditional Thai Medicine is practiced, and is open for service every day (except national holidays) between 08.00 – 20.00 hrs.
The second healing power is within the only rainforest of Phuket Island or Kao Pra Taew Forest, which is only 20 kilometers from the city center and not too far from breeze setting of some hotel venues along the beach. Here
the delegates can help heal and rescue gibbons. The apes once inhabited the forest but were almost wiped out by poachers in the 1980s until 22 years ago when The Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand set up a project to save them and heal those stolen or suffering injuries. During the tour, the delegates joined a friendly competition to design a cage for the gibbons which will be taken care of by the volunteers who practice well-researched methodologies in keeping the gibbons healthy in the cage before they are ready for wild habitat. The project is open for outsiders to make a contribution to heal the apes and forest. For more information, please visit www.gibbonproject.org
The third healing power is at Eiw Mien Hill Tribe Village in Chiang Rai, a northernmost province of Thailand, next to Chiang Mai. At the village, delegates joined the reforestation activity to heal the forest with “unconventional method”, which did create memorable experience. Under the guidance of Eiw Mien tribal people, the delegates didn’t need to plant the saplings. Instead, each was given a traditional Thai catapult-like toy and seeds. Then, they put each seed onto the rubber band and pull the rubber string with the strength of their arm, target their eyes into the valley and release the rubber string. The seed was shot far into the valley, which is termed as “seed bomb shooting”. Once fallen onto the ground, the seeds will grow amid natural surroundings. It is really a fun way to help heal and grow the forest.
