TCEB Situation Update Shooting Incident at Siam Paragon Mall in Bangkok on October 3, 2023

October 4, 2023, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) is deeply sorry for the casualties and injured persons and their families during the shooting incident at Siam Paragon Mall in Bangkok on October 3, 2023. Thai people from all walks of life wish quick and full recovery of those undergoing the unexpected experiences.

His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen of the Royal Kingdom of Thailand have taken all the injured into the care under the royal patronage.  The government have contacted the embassies, the injured and relatives of the affected and ensured that the incident is ended and there will be no subsequent incidents.

Mr. Srettha Thavisin, the Prime Minister of Thailand, visited the injured at the hospitals in Bangkok and stressed the government’s top priority to ensure the safety of Thai people, foreigners and travellers alike and to maximize preventive measures.

The incident was brought under control in a quick manner by the police of the nearby Pathumwan Station. The perpetrator is now under the custody and investigation is underway to identify the cause. The casualties and injured are now taken good care of at the hospitals in Bangkok. The concerned authorities have taken actions by prioritizing the loss and feelings of both Thai and foreigners affected. To ensure safety, extra surveillance in public places will be enforced but will not affect the daily movement of the people and activities of the visitors.

Shops and business establishments in and nearby the mall are now open as usual. BTS Sky Train at Siam Station in front of the mall has also been in usual operation. Events at venues in Bangkok are proceeding as planned.
