TCEB Debuts “Thailand MICE Virtual Expo”, Connecting Thai MICE Entrepreneurs with Global Market

February 17, 2021 (Bangkok): TCEB takes the initiative in holding Thailand MICE Virtual Expo, the country’s first virtual edition of such event, during 24 and 25 February. The aim is to create a platform for Thai MICE entrepreneurs to harness opportunities to connect with potential global buyers, while business webinars and live streaming workshops are organised to showcase Thailand branding. Around 3,000 participants from around the world are expected.

Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization), or TCEB, stated that Thailand MICE Virtual is the country’s first virtual event aimed at promoting Thailand’s MICE industry. The objectives are to help prepare and maintain the global competitiveness of Thai MICE industry in the face of ongoing COVID-19 infection and travel restrictions, hence, the need to leverage technology to create a virtual event.

“Despite the suspension of international flights at the moment, we can’t stay still. We need to enable Thai MICE entrepreneurs to have a platform for future business negotiation and for introducing new products. We also need a platform to consistently update Thailand’s MICE outlook and situation. It is essential for marketing and boosting confidence in the country.”

Thailand MICE Virtual Expo is a full-fledged event as it offers business negotiation platform for Thai MICE entrepreneurs and global buyers, multi-industrial webinars for knowledge exchange between those in the chosen industries and MICE industry, and workshops on Thai cultural identities. All in all, the virtual event is a platform for the country’s branding communication with global MICE players.

 “On top of business negotiations for future dealings, all participants of this virtual event will hugely benefit from webinars in various and business topics, for example, future event trends, digitalization, logistics, food industry. The topics will be delivered by experts of each particular area, which, on a whole, will create future business opportunities.”

Recently, Lowy, an Australian research institute, revealed that of all 98 surveyed countries, Thailand was globally ranked 4th for the best handling of COVID-19 outbreak. Meanwhile, U.S. News & World Report disclosed the survey results of all 73 countries, which ranked Thailand the first place as a destination for starting business. Bloomberg News classified Thailand a country, among the 17 emerging markets, with the best economic overview in 2021. 

Thailand MICE Virtual Expo”  is organised under a concept of “The River of New Era” which is inspired by the Chao Phraya River, Thailand’s main artery for transportation connecting the Kingdom with the outside world since the ancient days until present. The event features a lot of interesting activities aimed at promoting Thailand’s MICE industry on all fronts. Business matching is conducted via 30 virtual booths of Thai MICE entrepreneurs and startups, all of whom are supported by TCEB to take part in this event after their participation in such TCEB projects as Thailand MICE Venue Standards (TMVS), Thai MICE Connect, Thailand’s MICE Startup. Thai exhibitors are venue operators, organisers and startup from across Thailand. Their participation in the virtual expo is a sign of their capacities as a leading service provider who can maximise the opportunities to tap into overseas markets, expand their business and help drive the economy in the long term.

Live Streaming Workshop will present activities centering on globally renowned Thai culture, in which event delegates can take part online. For example Thai Food demonstration workshop conducted by famed chef, Mr. Bank Jetasanond from MasterChef Thailand; Thai boxing by a world champion, Petchtanong Petchfergus; Thai puppets and facemask painting by Master Nimit Pipitkul; and Wat Pho’s traditional Thai massage to heal office syndromes and introduction to a long history of Wat Pho massage school.

Another highlight is Webinar & Online Panel Discussion which is honored by the presence of prominent guest speakers in various business sectors who will update Thailand’s business trends in the new normal, for example, MICE & event industry, digital technology, health and wellness, logistics, sustainability, agriculture and biotech, and hospitality.           “Thailand MICE Virtual Expo is expected to attract no less than 3,000 participants from around the world: 80% from Asia Pacific and China, and 20% from Europe and the United States. It is also expected to help us achieve the target of THB 64,000 million baht revenue generated by MICE industry within the end of this year,” concluded Mr. Chiruit.
