Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation was founded by JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa with the objective to raise funds to save leatherback sea turtles, educate the general public about the plight of leatherback sea turtles which are becoming extinct, and nurture injured sea turtles as well as those handicapped at birth. The foundation also houses a Turtle Shelter and Education Center where visitors can see and touch sea turtles.
